아이가 없어 외로워하던 할아버지와 할머니는 어느날 진저브레드로 아이를 만들어보기로 한다. 정성껏 아이 모습으로 진저브레드맨을 만들어냈지만, 진저브레드맨은 “나 잡아봐라~” 하고 놀려대며 뛰어간다. 열심히 뛰어가던 진저브레드맨은 고양이를 만나자 역시 “나 잡아봐라~” 하고 도망간다. 이번에는 수영을 하려던 오리를 물속에 밀어 넣고 도망간다. 다음에는 말을 만나 말에게 자기가 더 빨리 달릴 수 있다고 약을 올리며 도망간다. 그만 멈추라고 외치며 쫓아오는 할아버지와 할머니, 고양이, 오리, 말을 약 올리며 계속 달리다가 사악한 여우를 만나게 된다. 진저브레드맨은 도망가는 것을 도와주겠다는 여우의 말에 속아 그만 불쌍하게도 잡아 먹히고 만다. Ready, Action에서는 남을 놀리고 장난치기 좋아하는 진져브레드맨의 성격이 노래에 잘 표현되었다.
An old couple with no children was lonely and decided to make a child out of gingerbread. They put in their hearts to make him but the gingerbread man runs away saying “catch me if you can!” The gingerbread man runs into a cat as he runs away and repeats “catch me if you can.” This time he pushes a duck into the water and runs away. Next he sees a horse and taunts the horse saying he can run faster. As he continues to make fun of the old couple, the cat, duck and horse and run away, he runs into the clever fox. The poor gingerbread man falls for the fox’s trick that he will help the gingerbread man run away and gets eaten. In
Ready, Action! the mischievous character of the gingerbread man is shown very well in the songs.
